A body of work conceptualised by two Sydney creatives Tahmyna Rad (Artist) and Billy Zammit (Photographer).

Drawn together through collaboration, a shared love for movement, and the underground subcultures that fostered this vision.

EVOLVING MOTION

The pair took inspiration from their lifestyles based around music, the D.I.Y, and independent cultural scenes. The revolving door of ideation and concept development came as a result of repeat conversations over their affinity towards visceral, tangible, fleeting experiences; rather than those curated for outcome.

This work is an insight to experience: A rawness, endurance, challenge, and the reality that beauty is worn as a reflection of efforts made. TRANSFORMATION.

To share that vulnerability with intention. To break out of the mode of pre-conception, only to find expecations can't be controlled.

Over the course of the shoot itself, Tahmyna undertook an hour of high intensity interval workouts with thirty seconds between each scene to capture the highest moment of exertion.

Tahmyna Rad

My creative practice is rooted in storytelling, movement and community. Through concept-driven performance and conversation, I examine culture, history, and, in this body of work, the control and reclamation of the body.

This exhibition, my first physical presentation of personal work, co-produced with Billy Zammit, inverts traditional muse–photographer relationships. Here, I am both muse and author, while Billy acts as interpreter and documenter.

Billy and I were drawn together by a shared love for unfiltered movement and the underground spaces that foster it. We first connected through rave and DIY culture, our conversations always returning to how we could translate these visceral experiences into something tangible. This project is the manifestation of that vision, and beyond: My relationship with self, femininity, and subversive culture has long informed my understanding of movement, and remains a cornerstone of my creative partnership and friendship with Billy.

Evolving Motion is a conversation between internal agency and external constraint. Movement becoming a method of uncovering the tensions between self and structure, and an ongoing negotiation between body and world.

After years of discussion (with Tahmyna) and deep diving into how to portray movement in feminine/masculine energy without curating to an audience; Evolving Motion came from a sparked concept, to a representation of each others creative influence.

Creating a tangible world that felt earned, yet through a lens of candidness and trust. Tahmyna and I worked on making these images feel visceral and textured through intense unforgiving lighting and highlighting sharpness throughout every detail. 

Already previously established in creative projects and collaboration, trust was a given when creating this body of work with T(Tahmyna). With our mutual respect for the origins of the D.I.Y; organically deep rooted in rave/graffiti sub cultures, there was a natural collision of concepts that led to movement being a catalyst for expression. 

Whether that personal influence led me to the excitement of things feeling rapid, a captured moment happening in real time or it was a perfect storm between Tahmyna’s 100 day project (daily 5kms) to have her be the muse to our own ideation through heavy exertion in an almost hypnosis style trance of motivation and movement.

Electro-haka to the world, catch Rei in Aotearoa before he heads overseas!

Multi-award-winning Māori artist Rei is hitting the road across Aotearoa this March and April with the Moisturise & Decolonise Tour, bringing his electro haka live show to Hamilton, Opotiki, Gisborne, Rotorua, Tauranga and Christchurch.

The tour celebrates Rei’s latest album Moisturise & Decolonise, a 15-track project exploring the balance between cultural reclamation and personal wellbeing. From kaupapa-driven rap songs like Toitū and Still Here to tropical pop and RnB-influenced tracks such as Seasons and Hine Manea, the album blends contemporary sounds with the rhythms, language and spirit of te ao Māori.
“The album is about duality,” Rei says.

“Many of us are on a journey reclaiming language and culture while also trying to look after ourselves. Moisturise & Decolonise is a reminder to regenerate, meditate, and take care of yourself during that journey.”

Three years in the making, the album marks a new chapter in Rei’s music. Having toured internationally across Canada, Japan and Australia, and performed at events such as SXSW Sydney, WOMEX Manchester and Osaka Expo, Rei has increasingly leaned into leading with Māori culture in his music and live performances.

“When I travel around the world with my music, I see how much people connect with our culture,” Rei says. “Every time we haka, the phones come out and the wairua spreads through the crowd. It made me realise I need to lead with the culture, not tuck it away in the background.”

The Art After Dark program will transform White Bay Power Station on Friday evenings with music, art and outdoor food markets. Across three nights, the Inner West Council Music Series spotlights emerging voices from our own backyard, bringing the sounds, stories and diversity of our local music scene to Biennale’s global stage.

Body Type are an all-female rock group based in Sydney and the Illawarra, NSW made up of Sophie McComish, Annabel Blackman, Cecil Coleman and Georgia Wilkinson-Derums. Their unique post punk sound has been refined across two EPs and two albums and is characterised by an unfaltering intensity. And yet it is hard to define. Guitars spit and swell and slice through harmonies. Moments of elation and bizarre imagery are wrung from the monotony of every day. Vocals knot together, producing ecstatic, slanted melodies.

Following release of their second album, Expired Candy, Body Type toured the UK/EU extensively throughout 2023 including festival appearances at Roskilde and Rock Werchter to huge crowds. The band’s London show featured a cameo from esteemed punk musician Gina Birch (The Raincoats) affirming Body Type’s growing significance in a long lineage of women in punk music.

In 2025, the band visited Velveteen Laboratory Studios in Los Angeles to record their third full-length album with renowned musician and producer Stella Mozgawa (Warpaint, Courtney Barnett, Kim Gordon). The resulting body of work – engineered by Bonnie Knight (Amyl & The Sniffers), mixed by Omar Yakar (The War On Drugs, Perfume Genius) and mastered by Jonathan Boulet (Party Dozen, Arse) – represents a bold step forward for the band creatively and sonically.

HAVEN continues this year’s string of tops-off sweat-boxes with an all vinyl, all night set from chief degenerate KEEPSAKES to celebrate his first release on the label since 2022…

Our co-founder has been on a tear the last few years. With releases on KAOS/OAKS, Turbo Recordings, Boys Noize Records, and Perc Trax, he’s following up on ‘Dystopian Euphoria’ with a 5-tracker of warped alien sound design, driving and grooving rhythms, and track titles lifted straight from a discombobulated after-hours chat. Beyond his releases he’s toured extensively internationally with appearances at many of the world’s finest techno institutions - including Berlin’s Tresor and RSO, Rote Sonne Munich, Distillery Leipzig, London’s Fold and Corsica Studios, the DBA in Manchester, Sub Club Melbourne and beyond. This sits alongside his busy Aotearoa gig schedule that has seen him grace many of our finest DJ booths at the likes of Twisted Frequency, Lakes Festival, TwoMinds Festival, Electric Ave, b.space and more.

Alongside all of this he has also been the driving force behind HAVEN along with his partner Marie Celeste Lawrence since their first raves in 2015. They have since developed into a label in 2018 - working with many of techno’s leading artists including VTSS, Tommy Holohan, Peder Mannerfelt, Ryan James Ford, WTCHCRFT, and many more. Now based in Ōtautahi their raves are stronger than ever with their focus on total dance-floor immersion, diversity, and the finest musical selectors they can get their hands on.

Those who witnessed the last vinyl all-nighter from Keepsakes know this will be a special evening soundtracked by one of the the 03’s most experienced dance music exports and his deep record collection…

The Art After Dark program will transform White Bay Power Station on Friday evenings with music, art and outdoor food markets. Curated by Liquid Architecture and featuring Gomeroi guitarist Liam Keenan and Yorta Yorta double bassist and composer Allara on 3 April.

Allara is a staunch Yorta Yorta artist – songwoman, bassist, producer and sound-designer. Living on Wurundjeri, Woi-Wurrung Country for almost 15 years, her motivation is driven by a hope of healing and self-determination.

Allara presents a reflective performance and creative offering that traces her decade-long journey of identity, cultural reclamation, and intergenerational healing on Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country, Naarm. Rooted in a documentary project first initiated in 2015 titled ngalnya dhadjowa (Beautiful Sunshine), the performance is a meta reflection, a deeper, layered storytelling experience drawing from Allara’s search for truth, connection and belonging.

Liam Keenan is a Gomeroi guitarist and curator based on Dharawal Country in Sydney. He is passionate about supporting the growth of Indigenous creative practices in and of regional Australia, as well as exploring the growing potential of music and new-media projects in museums. 2024 saw the release, via Room40, of Keenan’s collaborative album with American indie-rock experimentalist David Grubbs entitled Your Music Encountered in a Dream. In his practice, Keenan explores the sonic depths of improvised acoustic guitar feedback in real time.

Across three nights, the Inner West Council Music Series spotlights emerging voices from our own backyard, bringing the sounds, stories and diversity of our local music scene to Biennale’s global stage.

Sydney singer, rapper, songwriter and producer, BOY SODA (aka Brae Luafalealo) has firmly cemented his place as one of Australia’s most exciting new voices in soul and R&B. His music pushes the boundaries of genre and emotion, effortlessly blurring the lines between R&B, pop, classic soul and experimental groove.

BOY SODA won the 2025 ARIA Award for Best Soul/R&B release, and is fresh off the back of his Lil Obsession Tour, captivating audiences across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. His live shows, backed by a dynamic band, blend electrifying energy with intimacy, vulnerability and heart.

Those who have seen BOY SODA perform live just *might* be able to imagine how special this show is set to be. With his pure, rich harmonies, soul-stirring lyrics and full band behind him, BOY SODA is set to make the Boiler Room’s 40-metre ceiling soar.

Art After Dark transforms into a bold music program unfolding on Friday evenings at White Bay Power Station. Continuing its reputation as a late-night hub for discovery, expect genre-defying performances, immersive sonic environments, and unexpected collaborations, all set within the awe-inspiring industrial architecture of White Bay Power Station.

Art After Dark forms a unique, multi-voiced platform for contemporary music, bridging local scenes, experimental practice, and large-scale festival experiences, and offering an extraordinary soundtrack to your Biennale journey.

Tommy Phillips is one of the most exciting rising names in the new wave of UK house music. Blending early Chicago house influences with breakbeat energy, infectious vocals and a strong club driven groove, his sound is quickly gaining global attention.

His breakout Smokin EP on Hector Couto’s Roush label climbed the Beatport charts and received heavy support at iconic venues such as Pacha Ibiza, Fabric London and Space Miami. Eat The Beat & Thick As Thieves : TOMMY PHILLIPS

Two generations of forward-thinking drum & bass land at QQQ this April.

Swiss/German duo QZB have been pushing a sharp, future-focused sound since 2012. Known for crisp percussion, weighty low-end and a cinematic edge, their releases on Critical Music have made them a staple across sold-out clubs and major European festivals. Drawing influence from hip hop, breaks, italo disco and jazz, their debut album Future Forever cemented their reputation for precision-built, high-impact D&B, featuring Charli Brix, T-Man, Marea and MCXL.

Joining them are Future Engineers, atmospheric pioneers active since 1996. With releases on Good Looking Records, Renegade Recordings and 720 Degrees, the duo helped define a deeper, futuristic strain of drum & bass in the late 90s and early 2000s. After years of solo output from Lee under Transference Recordings, the pair reunited in 2022 and are now entering a new chapter with fresh material including Circadian and Immersive.

Rebūke is a self-taught Irish artist reshaping electronic music with a cinematic, storytelling-driven sound.

His breakout track Along Came Polly topped Beatport in 2018 and has racked up 40M+ streams, launching releases on Drumcode, Dirtybird and Ministry of Sound. In 2023, his collaboration Syren with Anyma on Afterlife marked a turning point, elevating his audiovisual live shows and cementing his place at the forefront of the scene.

Bluering are a duo from Sydney/ Eora whose live electronic compositions are inspired by the landscape and wildlife of the East Coast of Australia.

The release of their debut EP in March 2026 marks the culmination of over 5 years' collaboration sparked by a shared love for the imperfections of physical electronic instruments. Drawing influence from the foundational Detroit sound of Larry Heard and Underground Resistance, the textural dub techno of Basic Channel, and modern sensibilities of the ‘Aussie Prog’ wave, Bluering’s live set combines atmospheric soundscapes with stout drum programming and a staunch dancefloor sensibility.

Descend the stairs of Collingwood Basement, and disappear into the rhythm. Find yourself lost in the smoke, sweat dripping down the walls, soul pouring from the speakers, and bodies moving together as one.
For this soiree, we welcome Eora’s Mikekon, a cornerstone of Sydney’s scene for over two decades. Mike is one third of legendary party House Your Soul, and founder of WIP music, a label and party built around “A Conversation Through Music”, this is to say, he’s a known party starter.

Opening up proceedings for the evening, Rah, resident of both Worldwide FM & Skylab Radio,  brings a wonderfully diverse crate of sounds deeply anchored in percussive dub, jazz and soul inflected rhythms. A serious selector and the perfect energy to carry us into the evening. 

And finally, closing things out is Miles Ahead, guiding us through the final stretch and easing us gently back down to earth.

There’s something about Collingwood basement that feels like a love letter to the underground. Low ceilings, close quarters, smoke machine pumping; a red light and a feeling. Nothing more than bodies moving together in the dark, yet something so much more. The kind of space where one hour becomes four, and before you know it you’ve been locked into the groove all night long.

ABOUT Skeptic:
Establishing himself through an array of speed garage dubs, accumulating over 3 Million streams on Soundcloud, Skeptic exists at the forefront of the ever growing UK underground scene. With support from the likes of Ben UFO, Girls Don’t Sync, Call Super, Interplanetary Criminal, and Sammy Virji, Skeptics productions have become a staple for many.


2023 saw the release of Skeptics debut original, ‘Whine Up’, a powerful organ driven speed garage number. Following this came the 2024 hit single ‘Want Me’ with Sophia Violet. Skeptics sets take a high-energy, no boundaries approach, with regular excursions into the world of 4x4, 2-Step, Jungle and 140. This year is set to be no different for Skep, with a stacked run of UK shows alongside a signature string of highly-anticipated releases in the pipeline.


Skeptic (UK)

Hailing from Poland, Satl emerges as a prominent figure in the vanguard of a new wave of Drum & Bass producers. With a production career spanning over a decade, his musical oeuvre bears the mark of refinement and depth that belies his age.

Satl’s distinctive sound, characterised by a fusion of diverse influences, can be aptly characterised as hazy cosmic soul accompanied by commanding, rolling drums. His unrelenting pursuit of excellence propels him to remarkable productivity, consistently producing dozens of tracks each month.

Unsurprisingly, his music has garnered substantial backing from the most influential DJs within the scene and has led to work with esteemed labels such as The North Quarter and Integral. Notably prolific both in the studio and behind the decks, Satl’s DJ sets are distinguished by a preponderance of his own creations, rendering them unique and highly coveted showcases.

The melancholic yet energetically soulful nature of his musical amalgam has transported him across the globe, gracing venues from London to Hong Kong and Sydney. Despite these accomplishments, Satl’s artistic journey is merely in its nascent stage, promising continued evolution and innovation.

AZIFM

Azifm, real name Aidan Morris, is a drum and bass producer from Christchurch, New Zealand. Emerging from a vibrant local scene, he first drew international attention when Jack Workforce invited him to contribute a four-track EP on Must Make, making him the first external artist to release on the label. His debut releases, including Touch and Moon, signalled a producer with a precise ear for breaks, atmosphere, and groove.

Building on this momentum, Azifm has appeared on New Zealand’s Lunchbox Records and Melbourne’s Plasma Audio, cementing his reputation as a fresh voice in the southern hemisphere’s drum and bass circuit. His Making Way EP marked a breakthrough, blending imaginative sampling with refined drum work and a depth that resonated beyond the dancefloor.

In February 2023, he returned to Must Make with the Dark Rooms & Frustrations EP. Tracks such as Say Enough featuring Tusekah and Actual Factual with Cesco showcased his ability to weave emotional weight into rolling club-ready frameworks.

Known for flipping classic breaks into something distinctly his own, Azifm brings the traditions of jungle and drum and bass into sharper focus through a uniquely Kiwi lens. With each release, he is carving out a confident path on the global stage.

The Art After Dark program will transform White Bay Power Station on Friday evenings with music, art and outdoor food markets. Curated by Liquid Architecture and featuring Ladakhi musician Ruhail Qaisar and genre-agnostic electronic singer-songwriter based on Gadigal Land Marcus Whale on 27 March.

From Ladakh in the far north region of India, Ruhail Qaisar presents a sound field with a gripping urgency and intensity. Harnessing the immediacy and viscerality of noise music and power electronics, Qaisar’s music is attuned to a fractured world; a mirror to socio-political confusion. Ruhail Qaisar’s groundbreaking 2023 album ‘Fatima’ rings out as futurist prose, encapsulating a zeitgeist of social and environmental uncertainty. This is remarkable music coming from an isolated corner of the globe and certainly with an alarming relatability and relevance.

Marcus Whale is a prolific multidisciplinary artist with an abundance of creative pursuits that effortlessly and authentically traverse genre and communities. Whale presents captivating narratives using sound, body and light, echoing Qasiar’s futurist interrogations of an unsettled modernity.      

Recorded music before and between performances will be selected by Jungist (FBi Radio).

We're excited to host Bella for an 8 hour flex in the Cage off the back of her immediately sold out shows at Melbourne’s Northcote Theatre and Sydney’s Oxford Arts Factory along with a Pitch Music & Arts Festival performance. Bella Claxton is carving out her own space in the next wave of club music. Originally from Albury and now based in Amsterdam, she has spent the past two years building a reputation for sets that prioritise movement, pace, and long-form momentum, while maintaining a clear identity built on driving basslines, extended grooves, and a locked-in sense of flow. 2026 marks a defining moment. Following her standout BTV set and the December launch of her imprint Cadence, a label dedicated to steps-per-minute, movement, and functional club design, Bella has set a clear direction for her sound and output. The label debuted with her double-tracker The Power, a release shaped by late-night dancefloor moments and small, accidental discoveries. With a busy release schedule ahead, Cadence now operates as both a personal outlet and a platform for producers moving within her orbit.

We’re excited to welcome Toy Tonics back for their third trip down under — this time for a special daytime affair at Howler’s Garden Bar.

Arpy Brown:
Renowned for cleverly fusing different musical influences into timeless contemporary jams, Arpy Brown is the musical moniker of Robin Paul Braum. Based between Berlin and London, he’s become an integral part of both cities’ scenes in recent years, while also spreading his wings further afield on the global touring circuit. Alongside Toy Tonics, he has released music and remixes for the likes of Aus Music, Rhythm Section and Kitsuné Musique. Taking a communal approach to music making, Robin co-founded Athlete Whippet together with long-term friend and collaborator Aviram Barath, who he also co-ran artist collective and record label Squareglass with at the time. That ethos has found a perfect match in Toy Tonics, where Arpy Brown’s forward-thinking, dancefloor-ready sound sits naturally within the label’s eclectic roster.

David Bay:
David Bay is a producer, DJ, and electronic live act from St. Pauli, Hamburg, blending indie attitude with the pulse of disco and house. Known for his 70s-infused, analog-driven sound, he creates music that feels both timeless and modern, balancing dancefloor energy with strong songwriting. On stage, he delivers a cinematic experience marked by vintage aesthetics and commanding grooves, while his productions fuse sharp electronic edges with organic textures. Releases on leading labels including Toy Tonics, Nervous Records, and Future Disco highlight his distinctive voice in contemporary European disco and house. Now firmly aligned with Toy Tonics, Bay is preparing to release his debut album on the label in March 2026, marking a defining moment in his artistic evolution.

After the success of our last rave we decided to go ahead and grab lopro (aka swisherman) to headline the job. No stranger to DIY doofs and member of Sydney's DUNJ, lopro will be delivering a 2 hour sonic exploration of deep techno, trance, tribe and all things inbetween. lopro will be supported by Hungry Ghost and Beks who will be laying down a plethora of rhythm heavy music including selections from latin tech, afrobeat, uk funky, hardgroove, and dub techno.
